- On your own web hosting
- You install OurGenStory on a standard web host with PHP 8. There is no database to set up, and the archive lives on your account.
- Living relatives are protected
- Visitors see living people by name only. Family members you give a login can see more.
- Bring your tree, and take it with you
- Import a GEDCOM file from programs such as MyHeritage or Ancestry, and export your whole archive as GEDCOM whenever you want.
- AI on your own terms
- AI features use your own Claude API key, so you pay the provider directly for what you use. Without a key, the AI features stay switched off and the rest works as usual.
- In five languages
- Your family can read the site in English, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish or German.
